Voilà trente-six ans que Depeche Mode enflamme les scènes du monde entier. Le groupe britannique, composé de Andrew Fletcher, Dave Gahan et Martin Gore, n’est pas près de prendre sa retraite. Il vient d’annoncer lors d’une conférence de presse à Milan (Italie) la sortie d’un quatorzième disque, Spirit, au printemps prochain. Dans la foulée, une grande tournée, baptisée Global Spirit Tour, doit débuter le 5 mai 2017 à Stockholm (Suède).
«Nous avons travaillé à Santa Barbara et à New York. Ce nouvel album a un son incroyable, et nous en sommes déjà très fiers», s’est réjoui le chanteur Dave Gahan.
La première partie de la tournée, du 5 mai au 23 juillet, compte 32 dates. Elle doit passer par une vingtaine de pays européens, parmi lesquels la Belgique, la Hongrie, la Slovaquie, la Russie, l’Allemagne, l’Italie ou encore le Portugal, a précisé Depeche Mode.
Trois dates en France
Le groupe fera également escale en France, avec une étape à Nice le 12 mai, puis à Lille le 29 mai et enfin au Stade de France le 1er juillet. Les billets pour l‘Hexagone seront en vente à partir du vendredi 14 octobre dès 10 heures. Une partie des bénéfices de la tournée, qui se poursuivra après l’Europe en Amérique du Nord, doit être reversée au bénéfice d’un projet caritatif (acheminer de l’eau dans des villages d’Afrique).
Icônes britanniques de la new wave des années 1980-90, les artistes avaient fait monter le suspense en installant un compte à rebours sur leur site officiel jusqu’à la conférence de presse. Depeche Mode, formé en 1979 à Basildon en Grande-Bretagne, a fait danser des générations entières sur Just Can’t Get enough, People are people, Master and Servant ou encore Strangelove.
Le dernier album du groupe, Delta Machine, remonte à 2013. Il est empreint de blues, avec des synthés quasi métalliques. Ce disque a également donné l’impulsion d’une vaste tournée mondiale, à laquelle ont assisté plus de 2,5 millions de fans.

Depeche Mode are pleased to announce the first leg of the Global Spirit Tour.
The Summer 2017 European stadium tour will see the band play to more than 1.5 million fans in 32 cities in 21 countries across Europe. The tour starts at Stockholm’s Friends Arena on May 5, 2017 and ends July 23 with a final stadium show in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
